Hi, Craig. I believe that the AMFC continues to exist very much in
spirit if not in substance. I feel that we have had an impact on
ALA and the organization is performing more effectively and with
greater impact in the key forums. Our initial goal was to outline
a platform for change and I see many of its elements reflected in
the ALA Goal 2000 effort. A secondary goal was to advance AMFC
individuals into positions of leadership in the organization and
that has been achieved with signigicant success. I believe that
there is still a place for AMFC and the values it advances, and would
welcome reactivation of our political efforts, especially if it
would bring new and good people into ALA Council who share a commitment
to advancing libraries and librarianship through ALA.
