Subject: RE: Networking & Professional Development

I have no experience yet in determining how much credit is given to
electronic networking when it comes to job promotions and tenure and
new jobs. But I can tell you that it counts a lot when people are
considering who to ask to write articles for certain publications and
who to ask to speak at programs, conventions and workshops. And when
you are asked to write or speak because of your activities on the
networks, that definitely counts when it comes to retention, promotion
and tenure and in job hunting.
