I am glad to here that such a resource is being developed but why is
it on such a platform as SunOS instead of VMS or UNIX which has a much
larger user community?

I have a real problem in using may of the client products for varoius
services that are available. I am unable to deal with .tar or .Z
files. Our VAX does not use UNIX. From what I understand the vast
majority of academic coputers are VAXen. I strongely urge providers
of such tools that they be non-platform specific or be files that can
be compiled using C or some other such language. I have been able to
compile some files using make.com procedures provided by the
programmer of that tool. Our computer center here does not have the
people power to experiment with new tools so I am on my own.
