Subject: WAIS and Year 2000 compliance

I noticed the following Question/Answer among the materials
on the Web page for Blue Angel Technologies
<http://www.BlueAngelTech.com>.

------------------------------------------------------------

Question: We are using WAIS servers and are concerned that
since this software is not supported that it may not be
year 2000 compliant. Do you know if WAIS software is
year 2000 compliant and if not, are Blue Angel's products
compliant?

Answer: If you are currently using WAIS servers it is
likely that you have already found that WAIS is not
year 2000 compliant. Further, because WAIS is no longer
a supported product, the vendor does not provide year 2000
fixes. [...]

-----------------------------------------------------------

I understand that many early adopters of the GILS approach
used the WAIS software and that some have yet to migrate
to a GILS-compliant replacement. (Unfortunately, this is true
for some of the largest providers!) I urge all users of WAIS
software to begin migrating to GILS-compliant and Year 2000
compliant software As Soon As Possible!

If you need help in getting the resources you need to make the
transition, please post questions to this list--I am sure there
are many folks on the list eager to help you.
