GOING DIGITAL:
a day seminar on the creation and use of scholarly electronic
resources in Arts and Humanities research projects
Tuesday 20th October 1998
British Academy, 10 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5AH
Cost £30 GBP (including lunch and refreshments)
Further Information,Programme and booking form available on the web
at <http://ahds.ac.uk/users/baprog.html>
The Arts and Humanities Data Service (AHDS), the Arts and Humanities
Research Board (AHRB) and the British Academy are jointly arranging
the above seminar with the aim of targeting researchers and project
teams who are considering or who are involved in the early stages of
a project to create digital information.
The day long seminar will provide practical guidance in the creation,
project management and re-use of digital information. Strategic
overviews will be accompanied by case studies from existing projects
to illustrate the problems and opportunities. In addition to a
chance to network with colleagues involved in digital projects,
participants will be supplied with printed and/or electronic
documentation providing pointers to further information about
particular issues covered during the course of the day.
The AHDS has been established by JISC to collect, manage, preserve
and promote the re-use of scholarly digital resources. The British
Academy and the Arts and Humanities Research Board work closely with
the AHDS and are keen to ensure the widest possible dissemination of
the results of original research. It is a condition of grant that
computer data produced as a result of funding by the AHRB should be
offered to the AHDS. Part of the seminar will explore the value of a
repository of digital research data in the arts and humanities and
outline the benefits and process of depositing digital data from
research with the AHDS.
Further information, a detailed programme and application form is
available on the ahds website at <http://ahds.ac.uk/users/baprog.html>
Please note places are limited to seventy applicants and early
booking is advised.
