The issues between panels are related. Getting the NII to every
home has to be the end game. The questions might be which aspects of
the service/infrastructre and when? And the answers to these questions
might depend on factors such as costs.
"What" goes to the home depends in part on one's view of the
services and capabilities are needed. I suggest that the internet itself
is not the model, that the future superhighway will not involve computers,
but instead will involve various home appliances with enormous bandwidth
requirements in order to BE VERY SIMPLE AND EASY TO USE.
Various serivces and products will be possible only if there are
easy to use interfaces, that are highly adaptive so that they can be
activated by any mode -- voice, key, touch.
We also have to imagine multiple, simultaneous uses. One can be
having video conversations in one room, while vairous data contacts are
taking place.
