>>Subject: NEH /NEA/PBS funding cuts
>>
>>Here is the news re Republican efforts to kill all funding for these
>>(NEH/NEA/PBS) agencies by a simple majority vote on the Senate floor
>>-- without going through a hearing process.
Thanks for the news. I will check it out first thing Wednesday. Not
many members of Congress have email, despite the Speaker's technophilia.
I recommend (for Mac users) a shareware program called Qwikcongress. It
is a simple piece of software that includes all members of house and
senate in a handy dandy format to write them letters, print labels for
mailings or envelopes. It is about $20. We have some copies for sale
(not for profit but to encourage the use of the systme for advocacy).
You can search the database for your congressional district in a second
and it gives you the DC and District office addresses, phone, fax,
committee assignments for your two senators and one representative. You
can then select one or all and create a simple letter and click print to
print it (it has no fax capability yet).
this is a great system for organizations to be able to provide this
information via phone or fax for members nationwide (or statewide). It is
regularly updated but right now it has all the 104th Congress members' info
and committees. You can also keep "notes" in if for each member such as
how they vote on a bill or when you sent then a letter or called them.
