NEW INTERNET RESOURCE FOR COMMUNITY REVITALIZATION
*And an Invitation to Contribute*
Millennium Communications Group has recently developed an Internet site for
its report, "Communications as Engagement: a Communications Strategy for
Revitalization."
"Communications as Engagement" was commissioned by the Rockefeller
Foundation as a key component of its The Common Enterprise initiative.
The Millennium Report aims to:
1. Provide an understanding of the variety and focus of the actors in
the community revitalization "movement" in the country today;
2. Explore the role and potential of communications in revitalization;
3. Create a template or "architecture" for a data base on revitalization
initiatives.
The online version of the Millennium Report includes a browsable listing of
more than 235 organizations that have established themselves as effective
community-building initiatives.
--We are *especially* interested in finding out more about the utility of
the Internet for generating discussion, building lists of allies and
supporters, and growing the knowledge base of a nationwide
community-building "movement."
To this end, we invite your comments and suggestions about the content of
the Report and the concept of Communications as Engagement. We also seek
additions to the Resource Listing. We will keep interested parties and
relevant discussion groups apprised of new findings.
-------------------------------------------------------
--TO GET THERE:
*World Wide Web URL: http://cdinet.com/Millennium
*Gopher server: gopher.cdinet.com, directory=Millennium, Port=70
*Anon. FTP: host=ftp.cdinet.com, directory=Millennium
NOTE: Millennium is spelled with two "l"s and two "n"s.
-------------------------------------------------------
The site is by no means in its final form; we expect it to change and grow
better and more complete as people contribute their observations and ideas.
If you have a forms-capable Web browser, the Communications as Engagement
site will accept your comments and suggestions online. If you wish to
contact us via email, our address is mllninc@clark.net.
We hope that you find "Communications as Engagement" as exciting to read
as we found it exciting to research and produce. We look forward to
hearing from you as we tap into and develop the enormous vitality and
energy of those involved in the new community revitalization movement.
