All that W. Priest has stated I concur, but do not believe Newt 
Gingrich agenda has anything to do with culture values but simply
profit. The sale of the channels set aside for public broadcasting
would be large revenue and worth billions to the Murdoch's. 
As you might have read elsewhere, Murdoch lost 350 million in 
buying the 94 football rights, only because he could not distribute
to enough stations.

I believe the rhetoric and criticism for CPB is just a smoke screen
for the real motives.  The profit motive is strong enough that Newt
will risk public displeasure over cutting the budget.  Sad that he
will likely fool the people.
