I applaud both Mike Nelson's willingness to join our debate, and Mark
Rotenberg's suggestion of an on-line discussion with the Vice President
about public access and the public service, non-profit's role in the
future of telecommunications.
Such a dialogue with highly placed political officials is
an unprecedented example of how the new medium of cyberspace can have
an extremely positive effect on renewing our jaded, money-crushed
democracy, and placing the fruits of many thoughtful and knowledgeable
minds out on the table before policies are formulated, and irrevocable
steps taken that may have hidden dangers for our still relatively free
society.
