Karen Coyle -
Agreed re the "social responsibility" not being addressed.
I guess my first concern is that discussions like these, which I value,
would somehow be banned, reduced, charged for, or marginalized. And
even more important is the question: will intelligence, education,
culture, and some concern for human beings other than as instruments
of greed be even noticed - let alone incorporated into the structure
and operation of this humongous nervous system - by those dinosaurs
of telecommunications whose blood runs as cold as cash who seem intent
on selfish power and bottom line.
Or to paraphrase my late and revered professor of anthropology
at the University of Michigan, when he was asked if satellite
communications wouldn't improve the human race: 20th century
technology carrying Stone Age concepts.
