Bereano's analysis of the symbiosis of politician Gingrich and technocrat
Toffler - comparing them to LBJ and McNamara was insightful - was a
fine piece of work.
The problem, which he clearly sketched, is who has the power -
not what technology delivers the message that those in power send.
Broadcast and cable TV are a perfect example. Where *do* these
programs come from? Who makes the decisions to air them? Why? They
simply magically appear and most consume without questioning, a captive
market to sophisticated and hidden manipulators.
The phone and cable companies and their politician frontmen
want to institute the same control mechanism with computer networks,
and they are rapidly succeeding.
When will we march on Washington?
