The Snowe/Rockefeller/Exon/Kerrey "Affordable School and Library Access"
Amendment to Senator Pressler's "Telecommunications Competition and
Deregulation Act of 1995" [S.652] was approved by the US Senate's Commerce
Committee on March 23, 1995.
This amendment will ensure affordable telecommunications access for all
schools and includes support provisions whereby elementary and secondary
schools and libraries can receive financial assistance from the
telecommunications "universal service" fund.
If this legislation is adopted by the Congress and signed into Public Law,
all schools (including rural schools) will be assured affordable access to
the Information Superhighway!
