I also see the trend to less chat on listservers. I run a couple of 
listservers: texas-isdn (Texas ISDN Users Group) and tmi (Texas 
Multimedia Initiative).

I like the idea!  The users of our lists holler a little when 
commercial adds or off subject chat gets out of hand, but overall the 
lists self police themselves.  The subject prefix CHAT:  or ADD: would 
allow "serious" users to skip the message and may encourage "lurkers" 
to be more involved.
