I recently posted an article, with commentary, from the New Yorker
Magazine. Out of requirements of Fair Use (Section 107a of the
Copyright Law of 1976) I dutifully included the advertisements
that surrounded the article. This is to required because these
advertisements provided the revenue to pay the author, and by including
the ads, I further those advertisements.
A few people have been concerned that one of those ads was some kind
of solicitation for adults.
If I had taken more time to reflect on the situation when I was
scanning and editing the article, I, in hindsight, would have left
this one ad out. Not because I believe in censorship, but because
for right now, things are too crazy with the Exon-Snowe-Dole amendments.
