Vigdor, I think you misunderstood me.  First, I applauded your 
principled position which seemed to me to be basically, "take the man 
at his word until he gives cause to be understood otherwise."  My 
position is:  "the man has shifted with political winds and strikes 
me as an opportunist, causing me to seek an ulterior political motive 
or motif in his utterances."  I stated merely that I suspect his 
motives.  In my first message to you I indicated why; namely, that 
politicians of his general outlook have historically used the language 
of decency as a code to attack left political ideas, and as a rallying 
cry for suppression of those ideas. I added that I am suspicious in 
this way of utterances by all of the people who hold power in this 
country, based on my experience of how they have used that power.  
Which part is not clear to you?
