I believe that if one analyzed this issue from a large system
manufacturer (Dell, Gateway, ...) perspective, it would not make
business sense to load any operating system except Win95(98) or NT on an
Intel architecture based processor. Since an operating system (any of
them) is many orders of magnitude more *functional* complex than all of
hardware in a system, a naked (only hardware) system could not be
guaranteed from a practical perspective. Even my 'hole in the wall'
store would not do this.
