Chip, I would hope that would be a pragmatic choice, but - in spite of the
tremendous efforts of Steve Jobs - I doubt it for most companies or
consumers.
As an example, the Graduate School of Business at the Univ of Texas (UT)
recently made the decision to provide Dell laptops (guess what operating
system?) to all of its MBA students to better prepare them for the transition
to the 'real' world. *Minor* factors were because Dell is a local company
in the Austin area (hence a good discount) or that Michael attended UT
(although I doubt if he graduated - similar to Bill ... at Harvard).
Btw, UT is a Mac dominated campus for the general mix of undergraduates
(so far!).
