Good morning,
GLD2 is the Global Learn Day II, October 10/11, 1998. This, is the
second round-the world voyage promises to be far bigger and far,far
better than our Inaugural... with attendance in the many tens of
thousands, worldwide.
(Note: Please visit http://www.bfranklin.edu/archive/ for more details
about our Inaugural - an Experiment (in new technology),an Exhibition (of
30,000 distance course), an Expedition (31 foreign countries) ---and a
Conference (the leaders in distance education). At The Benjamin Franklin
Institute of Global Education are proud to be the lead spirt behind what
we are convinced will be another Landmark Event in education and internet
history.
GLOBAL LEARN DAY II - A SNAPSHOT
THE BENJAMIN FRANKLIN SHIP WILL TAKE THIS VOYAGE OCT 10 AND 11, 1988:
WITH STOPS IN THESE "HUB" PORTS:
New Zealand, Japan, China, India, Abu Dhabi,
South Africa, Egypt, Russia, England,
Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, Canada,
Maine, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, California, Hawaii.
Each HUB Port will have a "Hub Master" - an *individual* who
organizes the stop, and,
a HUB HOST-
A large, well recongized University such as Open Polytechnic
in New Zealand, University of South Africa in Pretoria,
Marine Technical University in Rusia and so forth.
THE THEME WILL BE
"Students in Boston can take courses from Bombay."
EACH HUB PORT
will hold its own Mini Learn Day Conference of about eight hours in
length which, in many cases, will involve other countries in that
Region. ...for example, in the Gulf, Abu Dhabi will involve Saudi
Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, and other states in The Emirates.
ADDITIONALLY,
THERE WILL BE FIVE 'EXPLORER' PANELS
(independent of the Voyage and the Hub Mini Learn Days in each Region)
Each of five Explorer Panel will hold in depth discussions about a
particular topic of global interest. The Explorer Panels so far identified
are English as a Second Language; Disabilities and the Internet; Toys,
Tools and Technology.
(The remaining two panels will be announced December 15, 1997.)
Conference participants will thus be able to:
+ Follow the Franklin Ship on its Voyage and the Port Conferences,
and/or,
+ Attend Regional Hub Conferences, and/or,
+ Visit individual Explorer Panels.
Keynoters in each Hub Port shall be selected from leaders in those
particular regions. Keynoters for Explorer Panels will be selected by
the Chair of the Explorer Panel. Keynoters for the Franklin Ship shall
be selected by the Admiral's Task Force.
