ConsumerNet, a virtual community of California nonprofit consumer
groups, is seeking a qualified leader to fill the position of Project
Director.
Duties: Manage the daily operations of ConsumerNet, including
administration of the content and non-technical design and layout of
a large web site <www.consumernet.org>, bi-weekly email newsletter,
interactive discussion forums, and technical assistance and training
programs for 30-plus member groups; Direct member development,
fundraising, promotion and publicity efforts; Manage annual budget of
$150,000-plus; Supervise staff, including webmaster and outreach
coordinator; Develop strategies with member organizations to help them
use interactive communications tools; Assess technical and training
needs of member groups; Edit news articles and descriptive abstracts
of materials for newsletter and web pages.
Requirements: The successful applicant must demonstrate the abilities
to fill a leadership role, manage a large and decentralized project,
supervise staff, and develop future funding sources in a nonprofit
setting; Requires strong understanding of the capabilities and
limitations of the Internet, web pages, email and discussion forums
and their use by nonprofit groups; Significant fundraising experience
required; Journalism, public relations or Internet writing experience
is desirable; Significant travel throughout California required.
ConsumerNet's home office is in San Diego, California, however, the
successful applicant may reside in another part of California and
work from a home office.
Salary: $40,000 - $50,000 a year w/benefits. Travel and home office
expenses reimbursed.
