Hi All,

I've been finding the debate generated by last week's Nature piece on
the state of Sci-Tech publishing extremely informative.

I wanted to refer everyone to what, IMHO, is a very balanced review of
the many complex issues that are interacting to create the current
situation:

Ruminations on the Sci-Tech Serials Crisis
(http://www.library.ucsb.edu/istl/98-fall/article4.html)
Emily R. Mobley
Dean of Libraries
and Esther Ellis Norton Distinguished Professor of Library Science
Purdue University

I found Professor Mobley's perspective very insightful and useful.

Keep up the the vigorous debate. This is an exciting time for us all.
I'm sure that scholarly communication will be a vastly different and
improved enterprise due to the many valuable contributions that you all
are making.

Cheers,
