I have found some information that might be helpful as we address these
issues.  The Economics and Statistics Administration of the Bureau of the
Census has a publications "Annual Survey of Communication Services: 1991"
put out July 1993.  The 50 page report has very specific numbers on the
industry.  Copies are free.  Call 301-763-5528.

A few numbers of interest:

          Total Revenues (1991)

Total Communications Industry:  217   billion
Telephone:                      159   billion
     (Radiotelephone)             (  3.5 billion)
     (All other telephone)        (155.5 billion)
Radio and Television             29.5 billion
     (radio)                      (  7   billion)
