Subject: Update: The Public Interest Summit

Friends:

We have a date: March 29, 1994

We have a place: The Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

We have a commitment from the Vice-President to appear as a keynote speaker.

We are nailing down commitments from other speakers.

We have invitations going out tomorrow.

We are investigating ways to link the event to the net to report on what
is happening and to take questions from more than only those who can get
to Washington D.C.

We have begun the contacts needed to arrange for broadcasting the events
in both video and radio formats.

We have interest from Carl Malmud in making the day's events available as
an Internet Talk Radio set of sessions.

We are talking to library, public access, and other groups to make sure
that the event becomes an organizing/education tool that can be used to
stimulate discussion in local settings around the country, either
simultaneously or as follow-up events.

The entire planning group (listed below) -- with the help of many, many
others who made scores of valuable suggestions -- has contributed a great
deal to getting it this far.

More news as it develops.
