Forwarded with permission of Jim Hake at Access Media, which is
sponsoring this.

I thought that the public interest groups and nonprofits that
subscribe to this list ought to be aware of this program, inasmuch
as those groups should be likely candidates for awards that
"recognize innovatives uses and applications of the information
infrastructure" especially in health care, education and community
service.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As part of the Infostructure Campaign, we will be creating the NII
Awards to recognize innovatives uses and applications of the
information infrastructure.
We see 5 primary Award categories:
- Business
- Government
- Health Care
- Education
- Community Service
It is likely an award would be given in each category to:
a) text based applications, and
b) multimedia applications
There will be a major national pre-Awards campaign that will make a
"call for entries" and a follow up campaign to publicize the success
 stories and applications and provide tools (e.g, "cookbooks") re:
how they did that.
We will be working with a number of organizations to create and
select the Awards.  Please provide any thoughts, comments or
suggestions you may have on this.
thanks
Jim Hake
