on the video switch

my understanding is that ATT already manufcturers the video swtiches.
The 5ess technology already handles large-bandwidth switching. if
competition is allowed in local telephone service, then anyone could
hook up business and homes to the access points.

my prediction is that the cable companies are going to have big problems
in meeting the same service satisfaction levels in billing and customer
service that is met by the regular telephone companies. "video dial tone"
should mean that a consumer pays when they want something, but pays
nothing except a basic monthly fee if they don't.
