CNI FALL 1996 TASK FORCE MEETING

INVITATION AND MESSAGE

.
.

From: <paul@cni.org> Wed Nov 6 13:19:31 1996

Subject: Fall 1996 CNI Task Force Meeting: December 6-7 in, San Francisco

TO: Representatives of Coalition Member Institutions and Organizations:

Enterprise-wide information strategies, the theme of the meeting, will
be explored in a plenary session. The topic speaks to a new CNI
initiative tht deals with enterprise-wide strategies in four key areas
of networked information resource and service development. Another
plenary session will explore the question of the future of the network
in light of the last eighteen months of experiecne with the privatized
Internet and the strategies of various Internet service providers.

Attendees will have a special opportunity to be exposed to the thinking
of Sherry Turkle, Educom President Bob Heterick and an expert from the
GartnerGroup. Two dozen small group project briefings and discussions
and birds-of-a-feather sessions will also be held at this meeting,
providing numerous opportunities for you to share information and
persepectives with others.

I expect approximately four hundred senior managers of information
technologies and libraries from research and education institutions and
organization in the United States and Canada will attend, as well as
leaders and experts from the corporate, government and association
sectors. The success of the other CNI Task Force Meeting is determined
by the mix of people who attend, so I urge you to be part of the mix.

I'll be posting brief updates on other 1996 Fall Task Force program
highlights weekly. Let me know if there is anything I can do to
entice you to join us in the city by the Bay this December. :-)

Best,

Paul
