A Tale of Two Archives Priscilla Caplan Assistant Director for Digital Library Services Florida Center for Library Automation Jerry Persons Information Architect Stanford University The Florida Center for Library Automation (FCLA) and Stanford University are both developing digital preservation repositories to serve their academic communities. While both archives rely primarily on normalization and forward migration as preservation strategies, in other respects they are as different as night and day. Two case studies will address policy, architecture, and preservation strategy, and talk about the realities of implementating a digital preservation archive.
