Pattern Recognition: Some Observations Based on the 2003 OCLC Environmental Scan Lorcan Dempsey Vice President of Research OCLC, Inc. In 2003 OCLC carried out an environmental scan. It reviewed the literature and interviewed over 90 opinion formers from the library and related communities. Findings were summarized in a report to the membership, which is available on the web at http://www.oclc.org/membership/escan/default.htm.
