WELCOME

Representatives from the member organizations of the Coalition for Networked Information gather twice annually for Task Force Meetings. The meetings are designed to explore new technologies, content and applications; to further collaboration; to analyze technology policy issues; and to catalyze the development and deployment of new projects.

Recently Added Information:

Project Briefings are the very heart of every Task Force Meeting. These are 1-hour break-out sessions which address state-of-the-art developments and issues of interest to the membership, as outlined in each year's Program Plan.

This year's fall meeting was held December 4-5, 2006 at the Renaissance Washington D.C. Hotel. Registration forms were sent to Task Force representatives and guests in early September.

Plenary Sessions are held at the beginning and end of each meeting. They include presentations of CNI's latest initiatives as well as insights from national and international leaders in the networked information community. This year, CNI Executive Director Clifford Lynch reported on developments over the past year, and he also presented the 2006-2007 CNI Program Plan during the opening plenary. In addition, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation named its 2006 Awards for Technology Collaboration (MATC); the awards were presented by Sir Timothy Berners-Lee, Director of the World Wide Web Consortium and the inventor of the World Wide Web. The closing plenary address was delivered by Daniel Atkins in his new capacity as head of the National Science Foundation's Office of Cyberinfrastructure.
