Truth. Knowledge. Society.

Our academic libraries are catalysts for innovation and creativity. We are a place for conversations, debates, and sense-making in a world of polarized and entrenched views.

Join the conversation September 15 & 16.

You are invited to join us in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia on September 15th and 16th, 2025 for the public launch of the University of Victoria Libraries’ new Kula: Library Futures Academy, the world’s first library-based institute of advanced studies.

Registration is OPEN!

Day 1 will feature a series of moderated panel discussions on the theme of “Truth, Knowledge, and Society”. Speakers include Richard Ovenden, Bodleian Librarian; Leslie Weir, Librarian and Archivist of Canada; authors Lawrence Hill, Richard Van Camp, and Esi Edugyan; Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan; Michael Witmore, former Director of the Folger Shakespeare Library; and many others!

An optional Day 2 on September 16 will be a professional practitioner’s day focused on the importance of digital preservation for the cultural record and citizens’ rights.
