Home / Topics / Assessment / Enhancing University Rankings: The Strategic Role of Academic Librarians

Office of Digital Research & Scholarship, Florida State University

Jeremy Katz
Research Impact Librarian
Florida State University

University rankings have become a touchstone for institutions of higher education, impacting reputation, funding, and student and faculty recruitment and retention. This presentation will explore the strategic role that academic librarians can play in this arena. By leveraging their expertise in scholarly publishing, bibliometrics, and research infrastructure, librarians are often some of the best-positioned personnel on campus to directly improve their institutions’ standing. This session will provide briefings on how Florida State University (FSU) Libraries assisted FSU’s Provost’s Office with a bibliometric data remediation project aimed at improving rankings in addition to an ORCID integration project aimed at mitigating the need for manual remediation work in the future.
