How can small organizations hurdle obstacles to participate in digital initiatives?  Software development supports such participation in the Portal to Texas History project by enabling persons in smaller institutions to easily contribute digital copies of their materials to the project and make them available online.  Software solutions have been created to facilitate workflows and standards for metadata entry and digital object creation.  The Portal to Texas History serves as a digital gateway to the rich collections held by Texas libraries, museums, archives, historical societies, and private individuals.
