With 13 billion records in locations across the nation, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) must leverage cutting-edge technology, including artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, to address the scale of its records and mission to preserve and make publicly accessible the archives that tell the nation’s story. NARA is researching, testing, and evaluating AI and machine learning tools and solutions, such as of AI-driven search and AI-assisted description, to increase access to its digital archives and to integrate with its mission from the time agencies transfer records to the archives through preservation, organization, description, and sharing the records both onsite and online.
