International Digital Curation Conference 19 April, 2021 — info and call for papers

Home / CNI News / International Digital Curation Conference 19 April, 2021 — info and call for papers

December 11, 2020

CNI is very pleased to be once again supporting the 2021 International Digital Curation Conference; see below for the call for papers and some initial information. I think that the topical focus this year is particularly timely and fruitful.

16th International Digital Curation Conference, 19 April 2021, Edinburgh – Call for papers

The call for papers for the 16th International Digital Curation Conference, IDCC21, is now available. As in previous years, IDCC is organised by the Digital Curation Centre with the support of the Coalition for Network Information. We’re inviting submissions on the broad theme of “Data Quality and Data Limitations – working towards equality through data curation”, addressing how data collection and curation can work for the benefit of society at large.

Suggested topics include transparency in all aspects of data collection and assessment, data sovereignty, promoting diversity and inclusion in digital skills programmes, and the curation of misinformation. More topics and further details are available in the full call for papers on the IDCC21 site, https://www.dcc.ac.uk/events/idcc2021 .

As announced at IDCC20 in Dublin earlier this year, IDCC will be taking place in an abbreviated form as a co-located event with the 17th RDA Plenary. IDCC itself will take place over a single day with the same mix of full papers, lightning talks and posters that regular attendees will recognise, but with fewer keynotes and no demo sessions to maximise the number of submissions that we can accommodate in a one-day event. There will also be no workshop programme this year, but we do plan a joint IDCC/RDA unconference as a link between both events.

We’re currently doing dual-track planning to allow IDCC21 and the RDA plenary to be either hybrid events with facilities for on-site and remote attendees, or to run as fully virtual events. Either way we plan to offer the welcoming, inclusive environment that we have always strived for and which our attendees and contributors have helped us to nurture – as well as a virtual taste of our host city of Edinburgh.

The submission deadline for paper abstracts and lightning talks is January 18th 2021. The event itself will take place on 19th April 2021.
