Although open access has become associated with article processing charges, the consortial business models underpinning the Open Library of Humanities, Knowledge Unlatched, arXiv, and even SCOAP3 have been highly successful within their own domains. These models, though, are theorized to have scalability limits. This video discusses next steps for the Open Library of Humanities in the emergent political contexts of the European Union’s Plan S, and attempts to spread the model more widely.
