In the spring 2021, the University of Pittsburgh Library System (ULS) described work underway to build a digital preservation program and the initial steps toward centralizing the digital assets it stewards across its diverse institutional, subject-based, and digital collections repositories. Now, the ULS will share their experiences in the design, creation, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of integrating their Islandora and Preservica instances. The briefing will explain the current workflow to transfer existing archival quality scans from Islandora to Preservica for long-term preservation. It will offer a look at what was required to create the customized script, working with Preservica to ensure the best outcome, impacts on post-ingest processing, and the possible future for their digitized materials.
