Administration “Big Data” Research and Development Program and Event

The Obama Administration is holding an event at 2-3:30PM Eastern [today, March 29] to announce the roll out of a major new multi-agency research and development program based on “big data”. The event will be streamed at

http://live.science360.gov/bigdata/

(I don’t know if it will be archived for later replay)

[Note, added 3/30/12, after original posting: “An archive of this webcast will be available on nsf.gov within two days of this event.”]

There are a fact sheet and a press release at the OSTP site,

The fact sheet has links to agency specific sites for more details.

Among the press coverage, see today’s New York Times.

(Steve Lohr, the author of the piece, is scheduled to moderate a panel at today’s session.)
