Gail Steinhart, Invest in Open Infrastructure
In May 2024, Invest in Open Infrastructure (IOI) will release the first edition of its annual State of Open Infrastructure report, titled “2024 State of Open Infrastructure: Trends in characteristics, funding, governance, adoption, and policy.” In the report, IOI aims to surface trends, patterns, issues, and gaps in the investment in and adoption of open infrastructure for research and scholarship, in order to identify areas that may benefit from change or intervention. It will also tell success stories of open infrastructure, shed light on patterns of participation in open infrastructure governance, and explore policies and their implications on the development of open infrastructure in four different regions. In addition, this year’s report will feature a topical brief on procurement issues for open infrastructure. The briefing will share the key findings from the report and invite the broader community to participate in further conversations to discuss these findings and surface additional questions for investigation.
