How Can LLMs be Integrated Effectively and Responsibly with Existing Researcher Tools and Content?

Technology from Sage

The issue of research integrity and ethical standards has become increasingly complex in the age of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), and librarians play a key role in guiding patrons to create research that is ethically sound and makes an original contribution to research. In 2023, Sage spoke to over 100 librarians and faculty who were worried about AI, but felt they could trust it, both for themselves and their patrons, if it was paired with Sage content. This session will share what they learned and introduce an AI Tutor currently in development to support researchers in their research methods planning, using Sage Research Methods content and expertise. In our vast and confusing landscape that is GenAI, we’ll explore the importance of an AI tutor that guides and teaches, ensuring adherence to ethical research practices from the outset, using theme-relevant responses along with prompts to encourage critical thinking. We will delve into the details of the project and conduct an interactive discussion on the challenges and solutions in fostering a culture of ethical research in the digital age.
