Project ReShare: Reimagining Content Delivery Networks with the User at the Center (Short Update)

Home / Topics / Economic Models / Project ReShare: Reimagining Content Delivery Networks with the User at the Center (Short Update)

March 25, 2020

Scott Garrison
Executive Director
Midwest Collaborative for Library Services

Project ReShare was founded in October 2018 with 15 libraries and organizations focused on changing the landscape of resource sharing. The Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc. (PALCI) contributed $100,000 to incubate ReShare through user experience design and development. Over the first year of the project, ReShare launched the Founding Members and Certified Service Provider programs, through which nine additional libraries and organizations joined ReShare as Founding Members and Index Data became the first Certified Service Provider. Leveraging this momentum and growth, ReShare is nearing its first production release and has formalized its membership model and governance to support and sustain ReShare. In this presentation, we will describe the functional roadmap and details of ReShare along with the financial and organizational governance to sustain this effort, the goals for ReShare to achieve, and how additional libraries and organizations can participate. We put ReShare forward as a model for strategic co-investment in technology and open collaboration.
