Expanding Our Horizons: A Library’s Take on Researcher Profiles

Aggie Experts is the University of California, Davis researcher profiles system. Starting with a vision of leveraging institutional information resources to reduce administrative workload and improve collaboration discovery, we are discovering more and more opportunities to engage with campus stakeholders. Our long-term plans encourage us to look beyond campus data to universal identifiers and think about connecting to and leveraging the open ecosystem of standards that has been growing and developing in the last several years. Libraries have a unique set of expertise to combine commercial solutions, open source technologies and open metadata to architect a platform anchored beyond local solutions to address campus needs. We’ll discuss how these insights help organizational relationship-building and inform our long-term application design.
