Athena is an online collaborative research discovery tool for the Naval Education Enterprise (NEE) being developed by the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) and the NPS Foundation. Connecting to relevant resources and databases, researchers (including students and faculty) will be able to discover and view completed, ongoing, and proposed research across NPS, Marine Corps University, and other relevant research entities. It will also include a platform for interacting with others interested in the same topics via various communities of interest; this will enable research sponsors to connect with researchers and vice versa. It is being developed to leverage the Microsoft Teams platform because of its collaborative functionality. This presentation will explore what Athena is, how it functions, what makes it unique, and what NPS hopes to be able to accomplish with this new cooperative research tool. Version 1.0 is planned to launch in early 2022.
