James English
Director of Business Development for Ebooks and Community Engagement
Lyrasis

OPDS (Open Publication Distribution System) is a family of specifications dedicated to the distribution of digital publications. Lyrasis in partnership with New York University, the University of California, Columbia University, OAPEN, and Open Research Library are demonstrating how systems for discovery, digital repositories, open access libraries, and licensed ebook providers can leverage the flexible metadata tool to extend their services into mobile reading applications such as the Palace Project. The partners are documenting workflows and techniques to simplify creating interoperable interfaces between systems that can scale and accommodate existing platforms, workflows and metadata tools for libraries to improve access and discovery of content and the reader experience using community-owned infrastructure.
