Dear Colleague:
Last fall you were interested in attending CNI’s Working Together: A Workshop for Archivists, Records Managers and Information Technologists. Unfortunately, we did not have space to accomodate you at that time.
We are offering the workshop again on Monday and Tuesday, June 21-22, 1999 at the Radisson Barcelo Hotel, 2121 P St., NW in Washington, DC and we are hoping that you can attend.
In an intensive, participatory workshop, archivists, records managers, and information technologists will look at the issues of digital preservation and access, and discuss the management of electronic records in their own institutional context. Sessions will include presentations and small group work. A draft agenda is on our website at www.cni.org.
The emphasis of this workshop is on teamwork — bringing together teams of archivists, records managers, and information technologists who will begin to develop practical plans for electronic records management that can be implemented at their own institutions. Librarians with archive or records management responsibilities are also eligible and encouraged to participate as part of an institutional team. Individuals from higher education institutions, national, state and local archives and agencies, the corporate sector, and non-profit institutions are eligible to attend.
The registration fee for the workshop is $225.00 per individual. This fee includes breakfast, lunch, and breaks on both days. The National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) and CNI are subsidizing some of the costs of offering this workshop. The room rate at the Radisson Barcelo Hotel is $125.00 per night.
Gerry Bernbom of Indiana University and Fynnette Eaton of the Smithsonian Institution Archives will facilitate the workshop.
Registration is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER AS INSTITUTIONAL TEAMS – one or more archivists or records managers and one or more information technologists per institution. Each team member must register separately via our website at www.cni.org.
If I can provide additional information, please contact me at joan@cni.org.
Thank you.
