Propose a Project Briefing
Proposal Form

DEADLINE: October 7, 2019

About the Briefings

Project briefings (presentations) are the heart of every membership meeting. A limited number of project briefings are accepted. Project briefings address state-of-the-art developments and issues of interest to the membership, as outlined in each year’s Program Plan. Management of data, digital content, and institutional information resources, digital preservation, innovations in teaching and learning, and infrastructure to support research are topics that consistently engage CNI members’ interests.

  • Anyone may propose a project briefing, including groups/individuals from non-member institutions and organizations.
  • Project briefings are typically 30-minute or one-hour presentation sessions that allow participants to interact informally about projects, initiatives, and ideas of their own choosing. 30-minute sessions WILL BE PAIRED. Final time slots assignments are made at the discretion of meeting organizers.
We are piloting a new “Short Update” session this year: 1-hour session(s) comprised of a series of brief updates (approx. 8 minutes each, limited to 1 presenter per update) on new or ongoing projects, programs, or organizations that may have reported at CNI in the past. Questions? Contact joan@cni.org.
  • Briefings are usually attended by 25-75 people. Attendees include senior IT and library administrators, publishing executives, government officials, and others with a high level of interest in and understanding of digital information issues.
  • Presentations provide information about a project’s goals, progress, and lessons learned, but they may also involve demonstrations. Issue-oriented briefings include presentation of background information on a “hot topic” and more time for general discussion with the audience. Project briefings are not intended to serve as marketing sessions for new products or services.
  • Each 30 and 60-minute briefing should include time for general discussion: 10 and 20 minutes, respectively.
  • A limited number of sessions are available.
  • Applicants will be notified whether or not their proposal has been selected.
  • All presenters will be invited to attend the full meeting.
